Are You Changing or Transforming?

By Patricia Young

It is good to change, but changes are part of life and they happen sometimes without us even noticing them. A good example of this would be the economy, weather, relationships, etc. We live in a dynamic world, nothing stays the same and everything changes constantly.

But Transformation – Renovation and real growth – is a choice. It means that we have to take control.

Most of us set goals for the year and then, when we don’t achieve them we setup ourselves for failure, we lose stamina, momentum. We tend to sabotage our own growth by not realizing that we get on our own way.

The secret is not to set goals but to set and/or raise our standards. By doing this, we will transform from the inside out.  When we set our standards we will go by what’s important to us, what is a MUST to us, not by what “should be”.

When we decide that something is a MUST for us, we usually don’t go by what other people expect from us. By following our MUSTs we will be able to be ourselves, we will know ourselves and will connect with our true nature.

Here are three simple tips to get inspired and connect with your MUST:

-          Envision what you truly want. What is your excitement? Clarity gives you power!

-          Define your reasons. Why is this important to you? Focus on your reasons and fear will dissipate.

-          Make the MUST part of your daily rituals. Think about it often, feel it, imagine it as it already happened

What if every day you could feel successful? You can have a successful day despite of whatever happens in the outside, if you start transforming from the inside out.

Beautifully written article. Yes, personal growth & transformation is definitely a choice, and I have found that those who choose to grow are usually happier, calmer, and more peaceful that those who refuse to change on the inside.

Great post! The quote at the end really hit home for me. I know that for all good things to happen, it has to start with me on the inside.

Yes… I am “one of those”… I kick and scream over change… because it isn’t something that I can control. Well, I can control some things, but not all, obviously. We moved last summer from VA to Tx and well, I didn’t want to go, but wanted to be with my boyfriend and had to leave a job I loved, friends I have built for the last 14 years (a very pivotal time of my life) and start over… well, everything sucked and some of it still does. lol But, I have vowed that I will focus on the things I CAN change, the things I CAN control and I WILL be more positive and focus on those things. It has helped and I WILL have a great 2014. Nice to meet you and welcome to the DIY Social group!
